Otter- Initiation Part 3

Otter was brought to the lobby where he was told to sit in front of Vincent. They were surrounded by other dogs, and Otter felt uncomfortable.  Am I going to be killed?  Maybe I did something wrong? His thoughts were suddenly broken by Vincent speaking his name. 

The dog looked up and watched as Vincent stood up, and cut his paw on a piece of glass. The wound was small, but bled.  He took the paw and smeared it on the cold floor. “To become a member of Trieste-a member of our family, do the same.” The glass was passed to Otter.

The dog looked at the glass, looked as it showed him his own reflection.  He took the glass and brought it across his paw.  He then took his blood smeared paw and spread it over that of Vincent’s. 

“We are now united by blood. You are a part of our family, and to betray us would be the ultimate crime, don’t forget that.”

Otter nodded his head and bowed down again.  “Anything for you, Vincent. I am yours-I am Trieste’s.”
