Brandy at the World Dog show!

When we decided to bring Brandy along with us, we knew that we were going to have realize only one of our Kelpies could advance to the next stage. Either way, we were ready for our dogs to compete against each other.  Mariana decided to take Brandy out, and she made sure that people knew they were together. She wore a light blue dress to match Brandy’s new leash.  She had practiced with Lilly about how to run with the dogs and how to keep their heads up during the running and while they waited for the judge. Brandy was good enough that we didn’t have to worry about him jumping up to get the snacks, but dogs are unpredictable sometimes.

That morning we left our hotel for the Show. Grooming didn’t take long at all, the pleasures of having short haired dogs. However we were still anxious. There was a lot of competition so we were afraid of being overshadowed by the other stunning dogs out there.  But we weren’t going to let that stop us. Brandy, Daisy, and Riley were raring to go, so we couldn’t just ignore that. With all the dogs barking around us, it was feeding into their excitement. Brandy barked at me once, simply because I started walking in the direction of the ring. I laughed and carried him over to where we had a little tent set up for the dogs to relax. No matter what they come home with, I know they will do amazing.

When it was time for the dogs to head to the ring for the breed judging, I gave them all kisses on the forehead. I love my dogs and to see them run on the stage is such a thrilling feeling. On the judge’s command, the dogs all headed out to the stage. Brandy and Daisy ran next to their handlers, their feet moving quickly along the grass. Both dogs kept their heads forward and eyes attentive. I stood by the tent, fingers crossed!
